Sensei Kyle Seabrooke

Kyle Seabrooke was born and raised in Haliburton, Ontario.  He has called Ottawa home since 2009 and has been running his investment and financial planning business through Sun Life for the last 14yrs.  

Kyle started karate in 2001 at the age of 12 at Kai Shin Karate North in Haliburton under Sensei Michael Chapman.  Michael Chapman was one of the black belts under Sensei Monty Guest, one of the most recognized karate black belts in Canada. Sensei Monty is one of Sensei Tsuruoka’s first black belts. 

Kyle achieved his black belt in 2005, and he has been very active in teaching students since 2006.

Sho Dan (1st degree black belt)- July 2005, awarded by Senseis Monty Guest, and Michael Chapman

Ni Dan (2nd degree black belt) – Sept, 2014  Awarded by Sensei Michael Chapman

San Dan (3rd degree black belt) – Nov, 2017  Awarded by Senseis Mark Bell John MacCallum, Rick Mullin, and Mitch Maxine of Jiyu Shin Karate in Peterborough, Ontario.

Yon Dan (4th degree black belt) – Aug, 2025  Awarded by Senseis John MacCallum, Rick Mullin, and Mitch Maxine.

WMO Team Canda Bronze Medalist in Sept, 2018 in Albufeira, Portugal.

Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in June, 2025 under Zen’s founder and BJJ black belt, Professor David Dash.

From the start of his training in 2001, Kyle has been very active in the karate tournament scene, winning over 50 sparring and kata medals in the Ontario tournament scene between 2002 and 2026.

WMO Team Canada Qualifiers tournament 2018, in Milton, ON: Gold medal in Sparring, and bronze medal in kata.  Qualified for Team Canada.

WMO World Championships 2018, in Albufeira, Portugal: Bronze medal in kata and 4th place in sparring.

Kyle has been teaching karate since he was awarded his black belt in 2005,  Kyle has been the head karate instructor at ZENMMA since 2012, Kyle has promoted over 10 students to black belt.

As a coach, Kyle has taken students to many different tournaments across Ontario and Quebec including the Karate Ontario provincial tournament. Kyle teaches students of all ages and ranks.
