Research has also shown that exercise can help kids pay attention. But exercise alone is not enough. We give instruction broken down into small steps to keep children tuned in and to make it easier for kids to pay attention and accomplish their goals.
We help children develop discipline by providing a structured environment, clear rules and consequences for not following them, shaping behavior slowly, praising good behavior and by modeling the behavior that we expect in our students.
We'll help your child learn to:
Stop talking & prepare for listening
Focus on what is being said
Listen to ideas not just words
Watch for non-verbal communication
Maintain eye contact
Listen to the words and try to picture what the speaker is saying
Patience means teaching your child to wait calmly with self-control. We use humour and games to keep kids engaged. We'll verbalize our instructions in a fun and imaginative way and your kids will enjoy the teamwork of finding solutions to the challenges they are given.
In a world where video games and screen time has become so prevalent, instilling physical activity at an early age into your child has become even more important. We will teach your child to see physical fitness as a fun activity that they can continue throughout their life.
Your child needs to feel accepted and loved, beginning with the family and extending to other groups such as friends, schoolmates, sports teams, and community. We'll always make sure they feel that way at Zen, and this will help them grow up to be confident adults.
Our martial arts programs are belt driven. We have new children starting their program almost every day, so there's no need to worry about when to start. In our Litle Samurai classes your child will learn the fundamentals of karate. Children start with a white belt and work their way through our Little Samurai belt system. When they turn 7 years of age we give them an equivalent Chito-Ryu Karate belt and they begin their journey to black belt.
